Cartoons were the first drugs of choice in my childhood to escape the burnt out buildings and other social ills in The South Bronx, as it was in a past millennium.

I’m sending this message from the year 2177 thanks to an overdose of Mass Media.

I’ve been cloned from DNA found on my comic book collections that survived a worldwide kill order of a president that believed superheroes were part of Fake News.

After my brain was uploaded with my Face Book profile and New York City report cards, I opened my eyes and found myself dressed in a uniform straight from Star Trek.

I was scared because Hispanic crewmembers were always the first to die by aliens.

And don’t forget African Americans.

The Advanced Beings that brought me back looked suspiciously like the bigheaded ones in a Twilight Zone episode called To Serve Man where aliens ate white people.

I never saw Puerto Ricans or Mexicans or Obama in the episode.

They probably were eaten first along with Chinese about an hour later.

I imagined one of the aliens groaning French and drooling like Homer Simpson

The aliens didn’t want to eat my brains.

They wanted to know about America in the early part of the 21 Century.

Then the clone of Albert Einstein showed up to put me at ease.

Tell them what you know, he said.

I know about a comedy on ABC about a Puerto Rican in prison.

I know television. Good-bye, 21 Century.

It’s been real

1941 Germany

Acting on Intel, we positioned ourselves with rifles in the woods as we waited for The Mad Man to pass by.

I stared through the sniper scope for hours and the bastard never showed up.

Where is he? Hitler is supposed to be at this location at this moment in history.

“ Gee, I hope nothing happened to him”, said Albert Einstein with a deadpan look.

This has been the season finale of My Life As A Comic Book

Reality has plans for Fantasy

The first time I saw a nude woman was when I was a little boy.

She rose from the waters of a bathtub with a beautiful smile.

The first painting I ever saw of a woman was of a mythological goddess of love.

The first best friend I had on Earth was a girl named Diana.

I would run downstairs to knock on her door.

We held hands as we climbed the hills of our Eden, Saint Mary’s Park, where a dragonfly hovered in front of me before it flew into my hair and where I saw a new butterfly dried itself by sunlight that made wings more beautiful than any stained glass window of church. We enjoyed freedom to explore an asteroid of a rock formation on Eagle Avenue.

We learned and laughed on the way to our castle of a school.

My mother worked in a pen and pencil factory but still made time to draw a smile by teaching me my 1,2,3s and my ABCs. And that helped me teach my fellow first graders.

One day, the children were released early into the arms of grimfaced parents.

No one came for me.

I opened the door of our apartment and saw a man take off his glasses to look at a clock.

He talked about President Kennedy killed in Dallas, Texas.

I didn’t understand Death but this was the end of Eden.

The better angel of our nature, John Glenn, was the next best thing to The Second Coming Of Jesus.  The great parade for hero astronaut was the last. It was the season finale of The Space Age Camelot. When I was a kid, I imagined a new century.

I imagined a conversation with my future self.

Reality has other ideas.

 Dear Face Book Friends,

I want to make a musical where my friends on Face Book can dance and sing songs from their countries. I invite North Korea to dance and sing with us via Virtual Reality.

This idea was inspired by La La Land, a great musical.

The fine movie made me wish to be really white.

When I was a kid, I thought I was American instead of Puerto Rican.

My father was white. My mother is Puerto Rican.
I am half American and half Puerto Rican.

I am an Ame-Rican.

If I could remove the hyphen could I go home to a wonderful sequel to life?

I am the son of Tony and Maria from a musical called West Side Story.

I wish I were the Richie Rich of The South Bronx.

I would buy Virtual Reality goggles for the world to make this the greatest musical of all time before The End.

All I have is the better angel of my alien imagination, my artificial intelligence.

It’s the thought that counts, I guess.

Dreams need help. I need you to help and it helps a lot if you have Jedi powers.

Thank you for your precious time.

Much love to you humans.

Good-bye J
